Install the MP modem
Step 1 — Mount the MP modem
Note: Power off the MP modem,
your computer, and any other
devices while you are connecting
cables.
IfyouareusingtheMPmodeminavehicle,itisusually
mountedinthetrunk,butotherpossibilitiesareunderthe
dashboardoraseat.
Select a location for the MP modem
Whenselectingamountinglocation,rememberthefollowing:
• DonotexposetheMPmodemtoweatherandenviron‐
mentalconditionsbeyondtherangeslistedintheenviron‐
mentalspecificationsonpage70.Avoidexcessiveheat
fromtheenginecompartment,heaters,ortheexhaust
system,andextremecoldfromdirectcontactwithair
conditionersorothercoolingsystems.Neverimmerseitin
anyliquid.
• IfyouarereplacinganMPmodem,youcanmountthe
newMPmodeminthesamelocationusingtheexisting
mountingholes.
• EverydeviceconnectedtotheMPmodem,aswellasthe
MPmodemitself,shouldbegrounded.(See
“Groundthe
MPmodem”onpage22and“Groundthepowerharness”
onpage28.)
• Routecablestotheirdestinationswithoutusingexcess
wiring.
• Makesureallconnectorsandtheresetbuttonareeasyto
reachandtheindicatorlightsarevisible.
Mounting the MP modem
TomounttheMPmodem:
1. Usetheprovidedmountingtemplatetomarkthelocation
ofthemountingholes.
2. Drill5/32ʺpilotholes(unlessyouarereusingholesfroma
previousMPmodemmounting).
